Terms of Use

Welcome to Trace. These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Trace mobile application, the tracenutrient.com website, and any related services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Trace.
1. What Trace is — and isn't
Trace is a personal nutrition intelligence tool. It helps you log meals by photograph, estimates their nutritional content using AI and reference food databases, and shows you how those meals relate to nutrient targets derived from your profile.
Trace is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nutrient estimates from AI photo analysis are approximate and will not be 100% accurate for every meal. Insights and suggestions in the app are informational — they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare provider, registered dietitian, or pharmacist. If you are managing a diagnosed health condition, take medication, or are pregnant, please consult your healthcare provider before making dietary changes based on anything Trace shows you.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create a Trace account. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement and that any information you provide during onboarding — including your date of birth, biological sex, height, weight, and health conditions — is accurate and up to date.
3. Your account
You can create an account with an email and password, or by signing in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for any activity on your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, contact us at support@tracenutrient.com straight away.
4. Subscriptions, free trial, and billing
Trace offers a free tier with limited features (intermittent fasting timer, manual exercise logging, water tracker, and meal history viewer). AI meal scans, full meal logging, personalised insights, and the doctor-ready PDF require a paid subscription (“Trace Pro”).
Plans
- Annual Pro — billed once per year, includes a three-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. One trial per user, per store account.
- Monthly Pro — billed monthly, billed immediately at purchase (no free trial).
Billing
All subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account. Payment is charged at confirmation. Subscriptions auto-renew at the same price each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
Free-trial conversion
If you start an annual subscription with the three-day trial, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid annual plan when the trial ends. To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel any time in your device's subscription settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Pro access until then. Refund requests are handled directly by Apple or Google according to their policies; Trace cannot process refunds for store-managed purchases.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices. If we do, we'll notify you before the change takes effect and give you the opportunity to cancel. Continued use after the change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
5. Acceptable use
When you use Trace, you agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in any way that violates another person's rights
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or circumvent any technical protection of the app or our servers
- Upload content that is illegal, infringing, offensive, or contains malicious code
- Use automated tools (bots, scripts) to access, abuse, or overload the Service
- Share or resell your account, or use the Service on behalf of a third party without authorisation
6. Your content
You keep ownership of the meal photos, logs, notes, and other content you submit to Trace. You grant Trace a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use that content solely to operate the Service for you — for example, to analyse meal photos, store your logs, and generate insights from your history. We do not sell your content, and we do not use your identifiable data to train third-party AI models.
7. Third-party services
Trace relies on third-party services to operate — including cloud hosting, AI vision providers, payment processing via Apple and Google, transactional email delivery, and analytics. These providers have their own terms and privacy practices. We describe the specific providers we use in our Privacy Policy.
8. Intellectual property
The Trace name, logo, design, and the software powering the Service are owned by Trace and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use the Trace brand except as strictly necessary to access the Service.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trace disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that nutrient estimates, targets, or insights are accurate, complete, or suitable for your circumstances.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trace and its employees, contractors, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, or goodwill — arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid Trace in the twelve months before the claim arose, or US$100, whichever is greater.
11. Termination
You may stop using Trace and delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we need to protect the Service or other users. On termination, your data is deleted according to our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in-app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms will be resolved in the courts of Singapore, unless applicable consumer-protection law in your country of residence entitles you to bring a claim locally.
